I think the best thing well meaning white folks can do for black people is confront racism within their own community. So often I hear white moderates express their shock and uncomfortableness when an acquaintance, friend, or family member makes a racist statement, but seldom do I ever hear any of them articulate that they did anything to challenge the status quo. Instead they pat themselves on the back for not being a racist (on that occasion) but let their people continue to discriminate. If white moderates fancy themselves liberals they should look up John Brown and then reconsider.
