3 Reasons Why the GOP Doesn’t Scare Me

I think Black people vote straight Democrat for two main reasons: 1) Ignorance and 2) They think Democrats suck but are better than Republicans.  A Bush, McCain, or Romney presidency scares the shit out of us for some reason.  All the crap we’ve been through in this country, and we straight b**** up when it […]

Top Ten Things Barack Obama Must Do To Regain The Progressive Black Vote

Get out of Libya. C’mon son… Going to Libya was a George Bush move. We’re supposedly over there to protect their citizens from the big, bad, boogeyman that is Qaddafi (Gadhafi, Khaddafi, etc. depending on the media’s mood today). Before Barack and the Frenchies started dropping million dollar bombs, Libyans enjoyed a pretty damn high standard of living. I mean free education, housing, healthcare, access to clean drinking water, a 78% literacy rate, and life expectancy of 70.2 years doesn’t sound too bad. On the real, it sounds a lot better than Harlem, Compton, and Houston’s 3rd Ward to me. But let’s not forget thatLibya boasts the largest oil economy on the African continent… Real slick B.O.

Assuming Problems are Problems

M.D. Turner In this political and economic environment the mainstream media loves to talk about all these problems we’re having.  The hot buttons being unemployment, health care, failing school system, taxes, energy independence, etc. The major assumption is that people in political and social leadership are just as incompetent and clueless as the rest of […]

Top 5 Dead or Alive

Ever since Pac and Big died, we’ve heard emcees constantly attempt to include themselves on the “Top 5 Dead or Alive” rapper list. Hip Hop fans have compared their personal Top 5 lists with those of their peers, debating about the merits and flaws on each others’ bill. While it’s definitely been fun to participate in the Great Hip Hop debate, I’ve found it more exciting to broaden the “Top 5 Dead or Alive” discussion to encompass history’s most revolutionary figures.

Between Martin, Malcolm, and Modern

Oftentimes I find myself pondering who I would have faithfully followed during the turbulent Civil Rights Era. Would I have been a loyal supporter of Dr. King’s nonviolent resistance? Or would I have sided with brother Malcolm X in his militant approach to Black Nationalism?

Haiti and Apocalyptic Politics

Watching the current rally calls and pledges of aid to Haiti as a result of this unfathomable natural disaster, I can’t help but to feel proud that citizens across the world feel compassion for our wounded brothers and sisters. This makes me smile, only not too bright.

African Constitutional Law (origin of real Democracy)

from The Destruction of Black Civilization by Chancellor Williams Some Political Theories and Principles of Ancient African Constitution Law (Drawn from African Traditional Constitutional and Customary Laws.  Different versions and modifications of the same laws occurred in different societies.) I. The People are the first and final source of all power. II. The rights of […]

The Politics of Machine Gun Machismo

AR – 15s were designed for the US military to quickly and accurately strike enemy forces on the battlefield. This lightweight machine gun’s sole intent is to kill. Despite these facts, radical 2nd Amendment enthusiasts find it acceptable to suddenly exhibit their gun “rights” in opposition to Obama’s healthcare proposal. This is very odd considering that healthcare has absolutely nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment. So what is the deeper message being conveyed by these fanatical pistol pushing partisans? Upon closer examination of their actions, it is apparent that they are fighting to uphold White supremacy and social inequality.

Say It Aint So…..

People Bringing Assault Weapons to Obama Forums… Wouldn’t Have Been Allowed To Happen With Bush Wassup DangerousNegros, I know I been away for a minute but back to business, and the first order is this silent assassination being planned against our President. Dr Boyce: Three Dumb Things about “Reverse Discrimination”

by Dr. Boyce Watkins Most of us heard about the recent Supreme Court decision involving “reverse discrimination” against white firefighers. The case has been used to undermine President Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. It also seems to prove that the establishment is correct and those of us who argue against the […]

What The Senate’s Apology For Slavery Really Means

You probably missed it, (I know I did), but the United States Senate issued a formal apology for slavery a few days ago. [Begin Sarcasm] Thank you Uncle Sam! This news made my Juneteenth shuckle buck all the more livelier, as I not only celebrated my ancestors learning of the 2 year old Emancipation Proclamation, but now the great-great-great grandsons of their slave masters unanimously concluded “My bad.” So now that the federal government has come clean after 144 years, I guess everything is all good. Break out the tea and crumpets, chicken and watermelon, gin and juice… celebration time Negroes! [End Sarcasm].

Generation Xed Out

I hardly watch TV since I feel guilty about the multiple other tasks I could be completing while sitting in front of the boob tube. In the same amount of time I could allow the television to draw away my attention, I could be writing a new chapter in my book, finishing a lecture, improving a marketing plan, or curiously researching a fascinating topic. Therefore, catching ABC News’ Earth 2100 was indeed a rare and inadvertent event. I just happened to be looking for the following day’s weather forecast, when I stumbled upon the program and was immediately drawn in, as if I were standing on the event horizon of a black hole. Earth 2100 painted the picture I had in my mind of capitalism’s dire consequences.

Racism is Session(s)

crossposted at Momma, Here Come That Girl Again! On the eve of Pres. Obama’s crucial nomination of a justice to replace David Souter on the Supreme Court, the Republicans have chosen Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) to replace Sen. Arlen Spector (presently D-PA) as ranking member on the senate’s judicial committee. I think it’s important to […]
