What Is dangerousNEGRO?
A lot of people ask whether the world needs dangerousNEGRO, as if the struggle is over. The truth is the struggle is far from over. Our communities are in shambles. The statistics are frightening. We say there is no better time than now to focus on uplifting our people!
I am proud of the positive message that dN is sending out. For personal reasons your company is very close to my heart. I have spoken to some individuals about your company and some found the name offensive. I asked them why they felt that way and they knew very little about how the word Negro was derived. Let’s go back to the word’s earliest form. The etymology of the word negro is as follows: in Greek, negro is derived from the root necro, meaning dead (as in the physical condition), Negro means black in Spanish and Potuguese. The Negro River was given that name by the Moors (N.W. Africa) because it contained black water. Black, according to science, means death (Black Hole sound familiar). Society as a whole associates black with death. These definitions was taken right out of Webster’s Dictionary: Colored(adj)-sometimes offensive: of a race other than white; especially Black. Negro(noun)-sometimes offensive: a member of a race of humankind native to Africa classified according to physical features (as dark skin pigmentation). Heah Brothers, it is what it is. I personally do not find the word negro offensive. I am very much ALIVE and proud to be a black man (dNEGRO). To be totally honest, you will never hear me refer to self as an African-American. I am a Veteran and all of you born on this soil are Americans. No other ethnic group has American attached to it. Give that some thought! God bless dNegro and every person who has a hand in it + their families. Peace Nephew! 1
