Death of Auto-Coon: The Movement
Negative images of Black culture in the media have finally pushed us over the edge. We’re fed up with the stupidity and ignorance. How much longer will we allow corporations to force feed the general public images of Negroes that do nothing more than degrade our race? While we do not feel there should be one monolithic thought process that persists in the Black Community, we feel the intelligence, sophistication, and ingenuity of our people should be broadcast for the World to see.
In most instances this is not the case. These days, it seems the major labels are only promoting cookie cutter rapers (I mean uh, rappers) that default to coonish behavior in order to remain relevant. If we do not take a stand against those who damage the integrity of the Black race in order to profit from ignorance, we are just as responsible for selling out our race. People that actively value stupidity over intelligence should not be the poster children of the Hip Hop community. People that default to making a mockery of Black culture gotta go! I think I’m wit yall on this one… so you know that “big media” is wholly determined to promote sell-out-ism and pay whatever is necessary to get someone to coon it up… and Tyler Perry has the only “black” sound stage in the world? I’m definitely not a fan of coonin’ for no reason, and auto-coonin is indeed the worst. If only we could take coonin back like we did the n-word. I recall a Sprite ad campaign from the mid-90’s. “Image is nothing. Taste is everything”. The sensation that we feel from being who we are is what matters. The image of it can not and will not ever be felt for what it is except by those who experience it from the heart. But good lookin out, I feel the message.
Finally someone is speaking up. Love the video too. But coonin isn’t only aimed at rappers. It’s in R&B it’s in professional sports it’s all the “dumbassness” that goes on. Plaxico Burress = Coon. Allen Iverson = Coon. and the list goes on. Iverson got a pass when he was young due to youth. But this guy has been around forever. He was BANNED from the Casino’s in Detroit. What kind of mess is that? Burress takes a gun “INSIDE” the club and “FIRED” it and all these dumbass people on the radio crying Black this and Black that. No my friend that’s not “Black” that’s ignorant. That gun may have shot someone, it could have been you or your fam. We need to think about what we are doing before we do it.

Peace and it’s tragic to have view the self
destruction of so many young black males and females today.
In spite of all the gains that were made during the 60’s by all the people from back
then that stood up and decided to stand for something,instead of blunts,crack,gats,
updated coonery and 21st century minstrel
slave activity.

I am a white dude and agree 100% with what you are all saying. A good friend and I were discussing how the media exploits the fuck out of the black community. It’s very plain to see. And the bubble gum rappers are worthless.
But let’s also not forget that the media pushes stupidity, greed and envy to every group with awful programing like The Hills and Jersey Shore to name a couple. These shows do nothing more than make people feel worthless because they don’t live in some ritzy part of town or have the nicest designer jeans or the sexiest body or the coolest Benz.
The point of the media and the bullshit is to “Divide and Conquer” We can’t come together as a human race if we are always judging and picking apart other people.
